Austin Niemann

2014 Graduate

Son of John and Kelly Niemann, Austin was born and raised in Obetz just like his parents and Grandpa Jerry. Growing up on somewhat of a family compound on busy Groveport Rd, Austin and older sister Kimber relied on school and athletics for a social life outside of home.

Maintaining good grades and playing many sports along the way, Austin excelled at running and was always the fastest on the team. It was his freshman year when he showed promising signs on the track of becoming an elite athlete. He was faced with the hard decision of giving up all sports but track and picked up cross country along with indoor track. The results showed it was the right decision for him and track became the highest of his high school accomplishments.

His next step in life began by declining a spot on The Ohio State University team and accepting a scholarship to Ohio Dominican University. There he trained under Olympic gold medalist and previous world record holder Butch Reynolds. After changing majors three times in his two and a half years as a collegiate student athlete, he paused his education but acquired lifelong friendships in his time there. Austin then started full time at the K&M Market where he has worked part time since he was fifteen years old. This investment allowed him to rent a two-hundred-acre farm on the outskirts of Groveport for another two and a half years.

Since October of 2020, Austin has been a homeowner right between his parents and grandparent on the family compound. Austin is now twenty-six years old and lives with his girlfriend Bethany Robinson along with their cats Simba and Nala. They enjoy being outdoors as much as possible and hosting family functions. Austin is proudly thankful for the people of his past and the accomplishments he has achieved but focuses on the present and sustaining happiness with high hopes for their future.
