Thomas Smith, Jr.

Thomas Smith, Jr. is the son of Thomas Smith Sr. and Gwynett Taylor.  He has a brother Justin Smith who also attended HTHS. Thomas grew up in Southfield, and first attended Hamilton Local Schools in 8th grade.  

Thomas participated in Football, Basketball and Track while at HTHS, earning a letter in each as well as being a four-year letter winner in both Football and Track and 2 years in Basketball.  As a member of the football team, he received the Mid-State League MVP honor, 1st Team All Ohio and had 1,700 plus yards his Senior year.  He was also Columbus Dispatch and Thisweek newspaper player of the week several times. He also earned First Team All-Ohio, Dispatch Agonis All-Star, and Mid-State League Offensive MVP honors his Senior year.  While on the track team, he achieved several 1st team MSL honors as well as District Honors in the 4x1 relay & 4x4 relay as well as MSL honors for High Jump.  He is currently still in the Top 10 for 300m Hurdles, 4x2 Relay Team and High Jump (6’2”) while only being 5’9” tall.

After graduating from HTHS, Thomas attended college at College of the Canyons in Valencia, California.  Later he joined the Army and has deployed 5 times to Iraq, Syria, and Afghanistan.  Thomas currently resides in Reynoldsburg with his wife Chantal Smith who also attended HTHS class of 2003.  Thomas has three children Tre’tyn, Laila, and Thomas.
