Jesse Sydebotham

Jesse Sydebotham was born in Zanesville, Ohio in 1983. He is the son of Melvin and Kathy Sydebotham, and has one sister, Mindy. Jesse grew up in the Southern Pines area of Columbus before graduating from Hamilton Township High School in the class of 2002. Prior to graduation, he served as captain of the football and wrestling teams his senior year. Jesse also played Varsity Baseball for HTHS as well.

Some of Jesse’s high school athletic achievements include:

• 2002 State Runner-up: 189-pound Weight Class

• 2002 Mid-State League Most Valuable Wrestler 

• Mid-State League Champion Wrestler

• District & Sectional Champion Wrestler

• Alliance Top Gun Champion Wrestler

• 3x State Qualifier - Wrestling

• Freestyle National Champion Wrestler

A prolific grappler, Jesse’s performance on the mat throughout his high school years earned him a full scholarship to wrestle for the nation’s best Junior College, Neosho County Community College in Chanute, Kansas. Following his freshman year at Neosho, Jesse transferred to Cumberland University in Tennessee. After spending a couple years away from Columbus, he decided to move back to Ohio and pursue a firefighting career.

Jesse graduated from the Ohio Fire Academy, and the EMS program at Grant Hospital to become a certified Firefighter and Emergency Medical Technician.  He worked as a Firefighter and EMT for six years at Allen Clay Joint Fire District in Northwest, Ohio. Jesse is currently pursuing a business degree at Columbus State Community College.  

Jessie, and his wife Ashley, currently reside in Mount Sterling, Ohio, and are proudly raising five children: Kristin, Tyler, Jacob, Kathryn, and Kylee.
