Ralph Taylor

After receiving his diploma from HTHS, Ralph served in the US Army where he received 2 Bronze Stars during his time in Vietnam. Thank you, Ralph for this service to our country! He then attended Ohio University where he earned his BS in Education and a MS in Athletic Administration.  

In 1979, Ralph was called back to his Alma Mater, Hamilton Township and taught Physical Education at Hamilton Central Elementary and began his coaching career at our Middle School. He was an Assistant Varsity Football Coach, Freshman and JV Basketball Coach and Varsity and JV Baseball Coach!

Ralph continued his teaching and coaching career in Logan, Ohio, which kept him closer to his family. During his 32-year career, he touched the lives of many student athletes. One of those being WNBA All-Star, Katie Smith. She was an Ohio State College All-American and winner of the Olympic Gold Medal in Women’s Basketball in 2008. He was named District Coach as well as League Coach seven times in Basketball, League Coach seven times in Softball and Coached in the North/South All-Star Basketball Game.

Ralph states that one of the reasons why he chose to become a teacher and coach was due to one of his coaches while a student at Hamilton, George Hamric, and Class of 2001 Athletic Hall of Fame Member.

Ralph is enjoying retirement (although continues to be a substitute teacher) and currently resides in Logan, Ohio with his wife, Julie. They are the proud parents of Kelly and Alicia and four grandchildren.
