Joe, also well known as “The Voice of The Rangers,” is a 1976 Graduate of Hamilton Township High School. He grew up in Hamilton Township with his parents, Carl and Jean Jankowski and his sister Saundra. Also a graduate of HTHS, Class of 1983! During high school, Joe participated in marching band, cross-country and track and field. It was there while cheering with his fellow Zoo members during Ranger basketball games, that Joe became the legendary gorilla mascot known as “Zunardo”!
Since then, Joe has spent the last 20 years as the public-address announcer for Hamilton Township football, boy’s basketball and track and field. In addition, he has been the PA announcer for Columbus State Community College men and women’s basketball for the past 10 years and has worked a “plethora” of high school and college tournament events.
Joe married his wife, Kathy in 1989, and they have two sons who are HTHS alumni—James, HTHS Class of 2012 and Gregory, HTHS Class of 2015.
In 2007, Joe was elected to the Board of Education for the Hamilton Local School District and is currently Board President.
In 2008, Joe was inducted into the HTHS Alumni Association Hall of Fame. In that same year, his mother and father were inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame as Award of Merit honorees.
Joe recently retired from the U.S. Postal Service, where he spent most of his 33-year career as an educator and trainer and now runs his own voice-over production business.
Joe joins his parents Carl and Jean as the third member of his family to receive the Athletic Hall of Fame Award of Merit!
