Gary Trent

Gary was a talented basketball player earning varsity letters each of the three years he attended Hamilton Township High School. He received many honors while playing forward/center for the Rangers. During his senior season, Gary shot 81.4% from the field, which is the national high school record.

As a sophomore, Gary was named second team All Mid-State League, and Honorable Mention All Central District. He was named first team All Mid-State League as a junior and senior, as well as first team All Central District both years. During his senior year, Gary was named first team All Ohio, and played in the District 10 and Ohio vs. Michigan All Star games.

After graduating from Hamilton Township High School, Gary earned varsity letters playing basketball at Ohio University. While at Ohio U., he was named Freshman Player of the Year, three time Mid-American Conference Player of the Year & All-MAC First Team (1993-1995), third team All American, and MVP of the Preseason National Invitational Tournament in 1994. This dominance earned him the nickname "Shaq of the MAC."

In 1995, the Milwaukee Bucks selected Gary with the 11th overall pick in the NBA draft. During his nine year NBA career, he played for the Portland Trailblazers, Toronto Raptors, and Minnesota Timberwolves. He followed up those nine years with three more professional seasons in Europe.

Gary's son, Gary Trent, Jr. was drafted in the 2nd round (37th overall pick) of the 2018 NBA Draft after playing one season with Duke University. He signed a three year contract with the Portland Trailblazers in July 2018.
