William "Bill" Bond

Bill was raised in Reese, Ohio, and is a 1955 graduate from Hamilton Township High School. During his high school years, Bill was a four-sport athlete playing football, basketball, track, and baseball, all while serving as class president. He earned All County football honors his junior and senior years, and was named All County in basketball during his senior year.

Bill was one of Ohio's best pole vaulters while in high school competing in back-to-back State Championships; finishing in 2nd place in 1954 and 3rd place in 1955. He earned a total of eleven (11) varsity letters. He was coached by HT Athletic Hall of Famer, Paul Orr and Nick DeCenzo.

Bill played football at Northwestern University from 1956-1957 where he received a football scholarship. He was coached by legends including: Ara Parsegian, George Steinbrenner, and Bo Schembechler.

He worked as a meat cutter for 35 years before retiring. He has worked for the Columbus Clippers for 28 years and was a Red Coat at Ohio State University for 39 years, working all sport events and is still active at Ohio State University.

The Class of 1955 holds class reunions every three years, and they meet for a late lunch the first Wednesday of every month. Bill feels very fortunate to have graduated with the class of 1955 which remains very close.
