Tarry Summers

Tarry attended Hamilton High from 2000–2004. During his time there, he was a two sport athlete and eight time letter winner for the rangers in wrestling and football.   

In his wrestling career Tarry was two time all Mid-State League, and was named wrestler of the year in the Mid-State League his senior year. He qualified for the District Tournament all four years and his junior and senior years made consecutive trips to the State Tournament.

However, his passion and where he really excelled was on the football field where he was a four time starter and letter winner for the Rangers.  He played running back and linebacker, and switched to the nose-guard position his junior season where he began to set defensive records. He still holds two of these with eighteen sacks in a season with five coming in just one game.  His junior season he helped lead the Rangers to the run they made for the Mid-State League title and then to the State Tournament in 2002.  That year he was Player of the Year in the Mid-State League along with being named second team All-State.

The following year in 2003 as team MVP and captain he rushed for over 1000 yards, recorded 13 sacks and for the second year in a row Player of the Year in the Mid-State League. He was also 1st Team All-District and Honorable Mention All-Ohio, Columbus Dispatch’s Scholar Athlete award winner and selected to This Week’s Super 25 Team. His last game of his high school career Tarry played nose-guard in the Central Ohio All Star game where he recorded 3.5 sacks including the game winning sack on the two point conversion attempt that sealed the victory against the OCC All Star Team, 7-6.

After his high school years Tarry continued his passion for football and was again a four year starter and four time letter winner at Ohio Northern University. He began his career by scoring the first touchdown in Dial-Roberson Stadium and thereafter was named Freshman of the Year, Bear Award winner, and a two year team captain. Tarry was a member of many student organizations including Fellowship of Christian Athletes, a brother of Phi Kappa Theta, American Marketing Association, and Leader’s Council which served as direct council for the president and first lady of the university.  As a Dean’s List student Tarry graduated in 2008 with a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Physiology.  

Today, Tarry continues his passion for fitness as the Columbus District Manager for Urban Active Fitness. He also is the CEO and founder of the real estate development company Key Palm Realty LLC.  In addition to his business ventures he also serves as a school board member of Young Scholar’s Prep School in Linden for underprivileged inner city youth.  

He attributes much of his success to his family, coaches, and mentors for their support, tough love, and life lessons along the way. Tarry hopes that young Ranger student-athletes continue to challenge those before them, and continue to make being a Hamilton Township Ranger student-athlete something to cherish and be proud of.
