John Gorczyca

While a student at HTHS, John was a member of the National Honor Society; a Buckeye Boys State Representative; on the football (captain), basketball and track teams; and elected class president three times.

He graduated from Ohio State University in 1971 with a Bachelor degree in Business. He was on the OSU soccer team, a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity, in the Arnold Air Society and named an ROTC Distinguished Graduate. He also received a Masters degree from Central Michigan University in 1974.

As a member of the USAF, John flew missions in Vietnam; was an Air Force Logistics Command Plans and Programs staff officer; served as the Executive Assistant to the Logistics Command Commander where he coordinated with executive and cabinet level staffs with the Secretaries of Defense and Air Force and major commands; was an Air Force One support pilot and retired after 20 years of active duty.

He received numerous Air Force medals and awards throughout his career. John was also a United Airlines pilot from 1991-2014, flying domestic and international flights. He currently serves as vice president of the Retired United Airlines Pilots Association and is a member of the Military Officers Association, Ohio State Alumni Asso_ciation, OSU Sacramento Valley Alumni Association, National Sigma Chi Fraternity, and Dadaelians/National Military Flying Fraternity.

John is listed in the National Air and Space Museum Registry, a volunteer with the United Way Campaign, an ambassador with the Shriners Children's Hospital of Sacramento, board member of the HTHS Athletic Hall of Fame Committee and a member of the HTHS Athletic Hall of Fame.

He and his wife, Sharon, were married in 1975, have two children and three grandchildren.
